Ruffing Roadsters is a running club open to Ruffing students in grades 1-8.  No running experience is necessary, just a desire to run.

It will meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for four consecutive weeks.

First practice is Tuesday, April 30.  Last day is Thursday, May 23.

Students may choose to participate one, two or three days per week.

Practices start right after school and end promptly at 4pm.  Parents who fail to pick up their child within a reasonable time will forfeit their child’s privilege of participating.

Practices will take place on school grounds where the middle school plays baseball.  Roadster coaches will meet students by the back door.

Parents will need to write a note to the child’s teacher on the days that the child is attending, so there is no confusion regarding where the child should be.

Please have children wear tennis shoes or running shoes.  For safety reasons, no crocs, sandals or other non-athletic shoes.  Children should also wear layers, as the temperature may vary a lot in one day.

The building will be locked after school, so children should bring with them their backpacks, jackets, lunch boxes, anything that needs to go home.

Water bottles should be filled prior to practices.  (Students will not be allowed back into the building for the water fountain.)  On hot days, it is a good idea to bring a couple of small bottles of water.

Parents are encouraged to pack their child a slightly bigger lunch. Snacks are also permitted before we start running.

In case of inclement weather, parents will be notified of a cancellation via email.

Parents, please make certain your child knows how to get home if Roadsters is cancelled:  whether it is taking the bus or waiting in the car line.

Students can be picked up at the back of the school (middle school end).  Please line up your cars along the curb and then exit right only out the east end of the back parking lot.  Please do not park your car in the pickup line.

Volunteers to run stations are greatly appreciated.  No running background is needed.  Training will be provided.  Practices will be cancelled if we do not have enough volunteers.

If interested, please contact Melinda Lashutka (440-799-7397 or (Young children are welcome.)
