Admissions

Director of Admissions:  Sheryl Pattison

Children are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for success in a Montessori classroom.  It is equally important to determine whether the parent’s educational philosophy is compatible with that of Ruffing Montessori School. Ruffing Montessori School welcomes all qualified individuals regardless of gender, race, color, creed, disability, national or ethnic origin.

We understand that applying to a school can be stressful, especially in light of our current post-Covid world.  We strive to make the admissions process as simple and friendly as possible.

The admissions process consists of an in person parent observation and tour, submission of an application form and non-refundable $50.00 registration fee, and a parent, child and teacher meeting.

Inquiry

We will be happy to answer any questions you have about Ruffing Montessori School and our application procedure. You can submit an inquiry form or contact Sheryl Pattison at (440) 333-2250.

Parent Classroom Observation and Tour

We encourage both parents to visit the school for an informational session and tour. We are confident you will walk away with an appreciation for the Montessori pedagogy and Ruffing’s thoughtful, expansive campus.  Simply click here to schedule an observation and tour or call Lisa in the main office at (440) 333-2250. Each visit lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Application

Complete the On-Line Application and submit the $50 application fee.   Acceptance decisions are made on a rolling basis and most decisions are made by early March.

Parent, Child and Teacher Meeting

In January, we call applicants to arrange a mutually agreeable parent/child/teacher meeting.  At this meeting, you and the Ruffing staff member continue to exchange information about your child and about Ruffing. You and your child will visit with a teacher in a relaxed atmosphere for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Acceptance

In most cases, admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.  Acceptance of a child is based on many factors.  Families will be notified by mail or phone. Accompanying the acceptance letter is an Enrollment Contract which must be completed and returned to the school within ten days.

Waiting List

If there are no openings available for your child, you may request to be placed on our waiting list. You will be notified when a space becomes available.
